Google Play screenshot sizes
Google is looser than Apple about dimensions and stricter about counts. The rule that catches people is aspect ratio, not resolution.
Last checked 28 July 2026 against Apple and Google's published specifications.
1080 × 1920 portrait, at least 4 of them, plus a 1024 × 500 feature graphic and a 512 × 512 icon.
Store listing assets
| Asset | Size | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| App icon | 512 × 512 | 32-bit PNG | Alpha allowed. Max 1024 KB. |
| Feature graphic | 1024 × 500 | JPEG or 24-bit PNG | No alpha. Required for every listing. |
| Phone screenshots | 1080 × 1920 recommended | JPEG or 24-bit PNG | 2 minimum, 8 maximum. No alpha. |
| Tablet screenshots | 1080–7680 px per side | JPEG or 24-bit PNG | 4 minimum for tablet listings. |
| Android TV banner | 1280 × 720 | JPEG or 24-bit PNG | TV apps only. |
The two rules that actually reject uploads
Side length. Every screenshot must be at least 320 px and at most 3840 px on each side.
Aspect ratio. The longer side cannot exceed twice the shorter side. That caps you between 16:9 and 9:16. A tall, narrow marketing image — the kind that looks fine on a design canvas — fails here even though every pixel dimension is inside the allowed range. This is the single most common Play rejection.
Getting promoted
Meeting the minimum makes your listing publishable. It does not make it eligible for Google's promotional surfaces. For that you need at least 4 screenshots at 1080 px or higher, in 16:9 landscape (minimum 1920 × 1080) or 9:16 portrait (minimum 1080 × 1920).
The gap between "accepted" and "promotable" is small and worth closing: two screenshots at 320 px is a valid listing that Google will never feature.
How this differs from the App Store
- Apple wants exact dimensions. Google wants a range and an aspect ratio.
- Apple allows 10 per localization. Google allows 8 per form factor.
- Google requires a feature graphic. Apple has no equivalent — it is the banner behind your listing, and there is no way to publish without one.
- Google's promo video is a YouTube link, not an upload. Apple's app preview is a file with strict specs.
Because Google accepts a range rather than exact numbers, one 1080 × 1920 set satisfies both the phone requirement and the promotion threshold. Design at that size and you are done — there is no equivalent of Apple's per-display-size matrix.
